Five of the Best Craft Kit Gift Ideas from UK Small Businesses

If you're looking for the perfect craft kit gift - whether it's papercraft, jewellery or needlecraft - then look no further! I've met some fantastic small business owners as I've travelled across the UK to share my own iris folding kits at craft shows, gift fairs and markets.

So, here are my top five craft kit gift ideas from some of the best UK small craft businesses. And they all fit through a letterbox!

Blue Giraffe Jewellery Making Kit - Silver Pendant

I was already a fan of Kane's gorgeous items at  Blue Giraffe Jewellery. So when I heard that he'd added some jewellery making craft kits to their range of products I couldn't wait to have a go myself! I love the really natural look of tree bark on this stunning woodgrain Silver Pendant. And what a great gift idea to give someone such a unique and unusual jewellery making experience?

Kane makes all his stunning items from recycled gold and silver, and everything is packaged in eco-friendly packaging.

Sew Sophie Cross Stitch Kit - Sewing is my Therapy

Sophie was kind enough to help me when I first started attending craft fairs. She gave me some great advice on how much stock to take. I had no idea! We've kept in touch ever since and I gave one of her kits to my Gran last Christmas. It really made her smile!

Sew Sophie Crafts has a really wide range of cross stitch craft kits including positive quote kits, floral kits, animal kits, rainbow kits, seasonal kits and food and drink related kits. All her kits come with an easy to follow stitching guide, which makes them great for beginners and experienced needlecrafters alike. I love the message of the Sewing is my Therapy kit.  So true of all crafts I think!

Also - check out her Sew Surprise subscription service to give someone an exclusive box of cross stitch goodies every three months. No need to be bored ever again!

TillyViktor - Winter Posies Quilling Kit

If you have been to any of my craft show appearances over the past year, you may well have met Jess from TillyViktor at the same time. Jess and I have shared a stand at several events over the past year. One of my favourite craft kits from TillyViktor is the Winter Posies kit. I just love the fact that you add the quilled elements onto a wooden surface to make two gorgeous home decor pieces. You can choose to buy the kit with or without the quilling tools, which makes it perfect for experienced quillers as well as those new to quilling.

Each kit comes with detailed instructions and photographs making them very accessible for anyone - even if they've never done quilling before. They also come with all of the tools that you need, so you can be confident that the person you're giving the gift to has everything they need to make the projects included.

Jess and I have also put together a Positive Papercraft Kit which combines both quilling and iris folding so you can try out both papercraft techniques in the same project!

Katrilee Polymer Clay Jewellery Making Kit - Earrings

Katrina has put together a range of polymer clay kits making jewellery items and other small gifts at a range of prices to suit everyone. I bought her Earrings Kit for my teenage cousin last Christmas and she LOVED it. It makes 6 or more earrings and has really clear step by step instructions.

(Plus - I also really like her Trinket Bowl Kit - so pretty and such a useful product!)

Pretty in Paper by B - Rainbow Personalised Wall Art Kit

Of course I have to mention my own iris folding card making and craft kits. Most kits are suitable for beginners, as well as more experience paper crafters. They all come with clear and detailed iris folding instructions together with all of the card and paper needed to make the specific iris folding project.

I'm often asked which of my kits I would recommend for young children? It has to be the Personalised Rainbow Wall Art Kit!

A4 Rainbow Wall Art with the name Charlie

My Rainbow kit is great even for younger children, and here's why -. it uses wider strips of paper, which makes it less fiddly, and papers of the same colour are placed together, which makes it less complicated. But the cheerful rainbow design makes it a great gift for older children and adults too!

Alternatively, I have put together an iris folding beginner kit, which makes ten cards (two each of five different designs). A perfect way to introduce anyone to iris folding!
